Owner and Psychotherapist
Hi! Thanks for being here. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. I immigrated to NY and worked for many years in Human Resources before enrolling in St. John's University for a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have many years of experience in Community Mental Health and have provided Mental Health Treatment for clients ranging from 5 years old to 60+ years old, with a variety of mental health diagnoses and life circumstances. I've remained dedicated to continuing education to provide clients with effective therapeutic options, and have certifications in various therapeutic modalities. With a professional history in Human Resources and many years as a Therapist, I created SLPC to provide a safe space for clients looking to heal, grow, and find their silver lining and also to consult with companies in an effort to improve employee satisfaction and retention through implementation of staff-forward policies.
As a therapist, my first priority is my client's trust and safety. I consider myself a person-centered, relational therapist in which the relationship between myself and my clients is our most useful therapeutic tool while we explore the client's relationship to themselves, others, their circumstances, and the world. I am actively engaged throughout session (not a "how do you feel about that" therapist, I do have a personality I bring to the room!) while bringing humanity, experience, therapeutic interventions, and holistic approaches as needed.
Outside of SLPC, my own mental health is a priority. I am an avid hiker (and so is my dog, Muffin! who will almost certainly show her face or make her bark heard in sessions), take boxing lessons, and spend a lot of time watering my plants. Being a therapist is my job, but wanting to make a difference is who I am. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Although Muffin has no official training, she is a therapy dog at heart. Empathetic and kind, she will show herself in sessions when she notices something is difficult to talk about. She also takes confidentiality very seriously, so everything she hears stays with her.
